If you have a male miniature Schnauzer over the age of two, you and your dog might be able to contribute to the health of the breed. The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting Schnauzers for a study that aims to establish whether testing urinary calcium at different times of day can determine if a dog has calcium oxalate urinary stones or is at risk for developing them.
The study will involve an exam at the veterinary teaching hospital including medical history, abdominal x-rays, and a blood sample. Enrolled dogs may stay overnight at the VTH or at home. On the second day, urine samples will be collected.
